Rebuilding houses and schools
Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) has devastating consequences for both people and elephants. As elephants move in search of food and water, they often encounter human settlements, leading to the destruction of homes, crops, and public infrastructure. For rural communities that already struggle with poverty and limited resources, such losses can be catastrophic. Many families depend entirely on agriculture, and a single elephant raid can wipe out their entire livelihood overnight. Despite the severity of the issue, affected communities often receive inadequate assistance from authorities, leaving them vulnerable and struggling to rebuild their lives. This creates a hatred and animosity against elephants.
This programme aims to provide direct support to these communities by assisting in the reconstruction of homes and essential schools damaged by elephants. We hope to bring relief ensuring that entire communities can recover and continue their daily lives without prolonged disruptions. The project not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters long-term resilience by working closely with local people to implement sustainable, elephant-friendly solutions.
In addition to rebuilding efforts, the programme raises awareness about HEC and promotes coexistence strategies. By involving affected communities in conservation-based solutions, we encourage proactive measures that reduce conflict while protecting both human livelihoods and elephant populations. Our goal is to create a future where communities are no longer left to bear the burden of HEC alone but are supported in meaningful ways that ensure their safety, stability, and well-being. Through collaborative efforts, we believe that both people and elephants can share the land peace, reducing conflict and fostering coexistence for generations to come.
